STUDBOLTS & HEAVY HEX NUTS – DUPLEX UNS S31803 / S32205

We produced fully threaded Studbolts and Heavy Hex Nuts using Duplex 2205 / UNS S31803, which are specifically designed for tank applications in chemical processing plants. Our in-house manufacturing process involved thread rolling, cutting, chamfering, and dot peen marking for the studbolts, while the hexagon nuts were turned, milled, and threaded on our Doosan GT2100M 3-axis CNC machines.

Duplex 2205 derives its name from its unique composition, consisting of two distinct types of grains – 40-50% austenite and 50-60% ferrite. It is a highly popular alternative to Alloy 255 and outperforms 317L in most environments when it comes to crevice corrosion resistance. It is highly resistant to hydrogen sulfide and excels in chloride environments. Compared to 316L, it possesses nearly twice the strength. Additionally, it is less expensive than Alloy C276 due to its lower nickel and molybdenum content.

Pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and scrubbing systems are among the many applications where Alloy 2205 is commonly utilized.
